14A- Halfway Reflection

1.) In order to keep up with the requirements for this course, I have learned it is very important to keep a calendar of all upcoming assignments. I have found that if I am aware of which assignments are coming up, I am far less likely to miss an assignment. That first point follows directly into my second point, planning ahead. Planning ahead and taking a look at the assignments due is crucial to ensure you have enough time to complete the work thoroughly.

2.) I did really poorly on a Statistics exam this following week, and I felt extremely discouraged. I wanted to drop out of the course, but what made me pull through was my support system. My friends and family made me realize that one test score is not my final grade, and there are people that can help me bring my grade up. Recently, I have been working extremely hard on that coursework to ensure a better exam grade next time, which I believe illustrates my tenaciousness.

3.) First, I would say it is so important to keep yourself organized and aware of coursework. Second, I would suggest making a list of goals for yourself each and every day. Something about writing something down and being able to cross it off when it's finished feels so rewarding. Lastly, I would suggest that believing in yourself and your ideas are the most important part. Be honest with yourself, but also don't be easy to give up on your ideas.

  1. Hi Skylar, my Reflection is similar to yours. I, too, thought it was extremely important to stay organized with the assignments on a calendar. Looking ahead and planning is also extremely important because many of these assignments require that you do so. I believe organization and tenacity are key to successfully finishing this course. I think many of us share the opinion on this. Great post!

  2. Hi Skylar,

Well done with your reflection! I agree that it is very important to keep track of due dates and upcoming things on a calendar- I like to use a combination of Google Calendars and the Canvas calendar in order to accomplish this in my own life. In addition, I agree that it is so important to have a positive and elastic mindset towards grades- one test, one grade, one class, even one semester or year do not define who we are- they are merely just a number or a letter in the grand scheme of things. We are much better just focusing on our personal development and the things that we learn along the way. Keep it up!

  3. Hey Skylar, I have noticed everyone knows that in order to succeed and keep up with this course the main key is to be organized, especially with the amount of assignments we have in front of us. I love your outlook towards grades, I truly struggle to view it positively at times, but completely agree that it isn't the end of the world if you don't get the best of grades sometimes, it happens and things can be done to bounce back regardless of the situation.
