11A- Idea Napkin No.1

1.) I am a psychology student and I really enjoy doing art, and my talents include my work ethic, my essay writing abilities, and my problem solving. Because I do art so often, I have found that ink bleeding through my pieces is a problem that I face more often than those who may not draw. I'm sure pens do exist that don't bleed, but my goal is to find a pen that still has that same feel of an ink pen- without the transfer to the other side.

2.) My product would allow those who enjoy writing with ink pen to still have the same smooth writing experience without having the ink bleed through.

3.) My product would be for anyone who writes often, or someone like me who enjoys using ink pen for drawing and making other creations.

4.) The customers care about my solution because they also hate when their pen bleeds through to the other side. Those who care about the environment and wasting paper, those who encounter this issue on the daily when they are taking notes or drawing.

5.) What sets me apart from other people is my passion for writing utensils. Because I enjoy doing art on my free time, I know how annoying it is when an ink pen bleeds through to the other side. My work ethic also sets me apart from others because I will not stop until I accomplish what I need to accomplish.

If I am being 100% honest, I do not think I chose an opportunity that is specific enough to be looked into deeply. I believe I should've instead written about the lack of student parking in Gainesville apartment complexes because I would have more elements to fit into a solution. I believe my five elements fit fairly together, but I believe my solution is definitely weaker than some of my peers.

  1. Hi Skylar,
Well done with your blog post! I enjoyed reading more about your idea and seeing it fleshed out. I think that your passion for writing/drawing is awesome and that it is a great hobby to have throughout life. While I will agree that your idea is still a little broad, I think that there is definitely more room for a new product/solution than you initially think- perhaps you can try to differentiate the product a little more, adding new features that no one else has done and patent it?

  2. Hey Skylar. First off, it is special that you have a hobby, art, that is unrelated to your major, as that allows you to further expand your potential, to diversify yourself, and really set yourself apart from the competition. Secondly, personally I believe that you have a great opportunity at your disposal, but I admire your honesty in saying that you believe you potentially pursued the wrong opportunity.

  3. Hey Skylar, I enjoyed reading your post! I see that you do have a way to solve the problem you have thought of in society. Reading towards the end, It seems like you are unclear if this is something you may want to pursue due the fact you feel like you do not feel your solution is strong enough. I say keep trying to find more solutions, go further in thinking in your solution, or simply ask people around if they have better ideas on fixing the problem. Great work!

  4. Hey Skylar, I really enjoyed reading your idea napkin. I can see why the bleeding of the pen is a huge issue for you, now that I know your into art. This can be a very helpful problem fix to people in that industry and honestly people like me who have a hard hand for writing on anything. Love the idea and the post!
